thanksgiving, christmas, and the ringing in of the new year have all come and gone. during this time in which the desert sun slowly sinks behind the mountains at 4:30 in the afternoon, when the ponds are calm and the bugs just coming out to buzz...things have begun to change. kaiote has dogeared the first few pages of this seasons milestones. he has conquered rolling over and scooting across the floor, if he could he would bypass the crawling and move on to running. any day now he will be crawling across the linoleum floors, getting into all the things i never thought he would. he has found infinite interest in household objects such as yogurt cups, whisks, the remote control and endless other things...i have a reason to recycle almost everything. he has graduated from the infant side of his tub to the big boy side, sitting, splashing, playing. soon enough he will be in the big tub, he is a water baby, and loves his bath! we have introduced rice cereal, fresh banana, fresh avocado and sweet potato that we baked and pureed and froze. he really enjoys eating food, but doesn't plan on giving up nursing any time soon. he is extremely vocal-and lets us know when he wants or doesn't want something. we have been signing with him since birth-he doesn't sign back YET! but he lights up when he recognizes the sign...his favorites...bath time, dog, all gone, change, eat, more, i love you. we are slowly introducing more. i cant wait until he signs his first sign! the sweetest and most beautiful addition to his ever changing days- is that he reaches for matt and i with all his strength and love and wraps his arms around our necks. by far the most anticipated-he has cut his first two teeth. marking the transition from baby to the beginnings of toddler hood. he is absolutely the love and joy in our life-bringing so much more to the table than catfish-he is our kaiote for keeps.
